Presence is all that's required
Presence is all that's required to transform your suffering and experience a more peaceful and happier life. Let me tell you why.
We've learned and been conditioned to avoid the present moment and any uncomfortable experience, always searching for some future moment that is somehow going to be better than this one. We try to arrange, manage, and control all the various aspects of our lives, believing that if we can figure it out and just get it right, we can finally feel peace, happiness, and fulfillment.
This is perhaps the greatest illusion in human experience. Because that day when all the pieces fit together perfectly never comes. And even when we solve a problem, complete a goal, or fulfill a dream, the satisfaction is only temporary, and soon after, another problem, another goal, another dream takes its place. So the cycle of chasing, striving, and ultimately suffering continues.
So naturally, the question comes: if I stop trying to fix, solve, manage, and control my life, how will I ever get the things that I want? How will I ever find peace and be happy? It's a valid question. We have been taught that we need to work hard to make things happen, be a certain way, and get it "right." And if we don't, there are consequences.
So I understand that when I say something like, "All that is required is presence," you might be a bit skeptical. It can be hard to fully receive because it goes against everything we have been taught about how life works.
But when we begin our journey into the present moment, we discover deeper layers of our experience that aren't apparent when we are constantly projecting into the future, ruminating over the past, and trying to fix, figure out, and solve our experience. We begin to see the stories, emotions, and beliefs quietly operating beneath the surface and shaping our experience.
When we begin to fully allow and include our experience, to truly be present with it, these old stories, emotions, and beliefs begin to emerge, soften, process, and integrate. And so, the uncomfortable situation, emotion, or trigger becomes a doorway to transformation, freedom, and a deeper understanding of ourselves. And all that's required is to be present with that experience.
Now, this doesn't mean that it won't be challenging. Over time, we build the capacity to be with more and more of our experience, allowing deeper and deeper layers to emerge. But that happens naturally. It's not something you need to strive for or something that needs to be figured out.
All that's required is to be present in this moment. Anything that needs to be seen, felt, or understood will arise here. Life always brings what is needed to see what was previously unseen, to feel what was previously unfelt, allowing us to transform suffering and live a more peaceful and fulfilling life.
This is the foundation of what I share and how we work together: a pointing back to the present moment and support in fully meeting your experience, revealing the wisdom within it.
