How Do You Distract Yourself From the Present Moment?

How do you distract yourself from what's here in the present moment?

When we set the intention to bring our attention fully into the present moment, something interesting happens. We begin to see all the ways we've been avoiding our experience.

These strategies can take many forms. Sometimes they're internal, like habitual thought patterns or constantly replaying the past and imagining the future. Other times they appear outwardly through endless scrolling, staying busy, or filling every moment with activity. Whatever form they take, the underlying movement is often the same: avoiding what's present in our experience.

This is why a presence practice is so potent: when we stop following the movements that want to distract and avoid, we begin to see clearly what's here. And it's by meeting our experience fully and directly, that what's been lying beneath the surface can be seen, felt and integrated.

Creating space to intentionally slow down and deepen into the present moment can be incredibly valuable.
